(Part I: Buried at Sunset)

Introduction: If Jesus was not crucified on Friday, then when?
1. According to three gospels, when the women arrived at the tomb,
what did they find? Mark 16:1-6, Luke 24:1-3, John 20:1-2.
Note: In all three accounts, the tomb was already empty.
2. According to the earliest visitor to the tomb, when did Jesus rise
from the grave? Matthew 28:1-6.
Note: There was an earthquake, the angel descended, and the stone
was rolled away. This is the exact time when Jesus was resurrected.
3. Jesus was buried at sunset, then resurrected at sunset on Saturday.
So, counting backward three days and three nights, according to the
sign of Jonas, what day do we come to?
Answer: Wednesday at sunset is the exact time that Jesus would have
been buried.
4. What time of the week did Daniel prophesy that the Messiah would
be cut off? What day is in the midst of the week? Daniel 9:27.
Conclusion: Jesus had to have been buried on Wednesday at sunset.
