The Ressurection of Messiah

March 14

(Part II: Two Sabbath Days in That Week)
Scripture Reading: Jonah 1 March 14, 2026
Memory Verse: Matthew 12:40

Introduction: Were there possibly two Sabbaths that week? There had to have been. This is the proof.
1. Was Christ indeed crucified before the Sabbath? John 19:29-31.
2. Was this the weekly Sabbath or the Passover Sabbath, which is
called a high day? v 14, 31.
Note: The preparation day is the day before any Sabbath Day.
3. When was the Passover Sabbath instituted? Exodus 12:1-16a.
4. How many days did the feast of unleavened bread last? v 15.
5. What is said of the first day of this feast? v 16.

Conclusion: The first day of the feast of unleavened bread, a High Sabbath Day, can fall on any day of the week. In that year, it would
have fallen on Thursday, followed by Friday, followed by the Sabbath Day (Saturday). Jesus would have been crucified on Wednesday,
buried at sunset, remained in the grave on Wednesday night, Thursday, Thursday night, Friday, Friday night, and Saturday (which was the
weekly Sabbath Day), for a total of three days and three nights. This fulfills the prophecy of Jesus of the sign of the prophet Jonas.
