
THE DANGER OF COVETOUSNESS
Scripture Reading: Luke 12:13-31

Introduction: A common modern obsession is covetousness. Many are overcome by and with possessions. Why is it dangerous?
1. What does Jesus warn us of? Luke 12:15.
Definition: To covet is to be inordinately desirous, excessively eager
to obtain and possess; to be avaricious.
2. How is this definition manifest in the lives of some? v 18, 19.
3. What did God say to this rich man? v 20.
4. How does the Saviour conclude this parable? v 21.
5. What is one extreme description of covetousness? Colossians 3:5.
6. Judas was a covetous thief. John 12:1-6. What did his obsession
lead him to do? Mark 14:10-11.
7. Does this sound like a television evangelist? Psalm 10:3.
8. What quality should our spiritual leaders possess? Exodus 18:21,

Conclusion: Covetousness led Judas to betray Jesus Christ, the Saviour, for thirty pieces of silver. Doing so, he has lost eternal life.
