WHAT IS SIN AND WHO ARE SINNERS?

Scripture Reading: 1 John 3:4-9
Memory Verse: 1 John 5:17

Introduction: The Bible does an excellent job of defining what sin is and who sinners are. Let us investigate.
1. What is the Bible’s definition of sin? 1 John 3:4.
2. According to Jesus, who are sinners? John 8:34.
3. How does John make the same statement? 1 John 3:4.
4. What law is John speaking of? 1 John 5:3.
5. How long ago have these laws been violated? Genesis 3:6-7.
6. Are there other violations? Nehemiah 13:16-17.
7. If God’s law is violated in ignorance, is that a sin? Leviticus 4:2.
8. If only a part of God’s law is violated, is that a sin? James 2:10.
9. What law is James speaking of? James 2:11.
10. When this woman’s sins, adultery, were made public, what
command did Jesus give her? John 8:11.
11. By obeying God’s law, what change will take place? Psalm 19:7.

Conclusion: Jesus commanded the woman caught in adultery to sin no more. We should also sin no more.
